Playground Makeover in Lincoln

We recently headed over to a site in Lincoln to give a tired wet pour play surface a much-needed refresh. The area had been in place for quite a few years and was starting to show the usual signs of wear, dirt build-up, loose edges and a play surface that just wasn’t looking its best anymore. The client didn’t want a full replacement, just a reliable, cost-friendly way to bring the space back to life. That’s exactly what we delivered.

Play surface clean

First, we gave the whole wet pour area a clean. Outdoor play surfaces collect all sorts over time, algae, dirt, bits of debris and it can really dull the look of the surface. Using the right equipment for the job, we cleaned the entire outdoor surface so we had a solid base to work from. It instantly made a difference and let us spot where further work was needed.

Next up was the edging!

A few areas around the perimeter had started to fail, which is pretty common with older wet pour surfaces. When edging loosens or breaks down, it can cause gaps, movement or even small trip points. So, we removed the damaged sections and installed new, secure edging all the way around. It tidied the whole area up and gave the play surface a nice, firm boundary again.

Final step, the needlepunch dressing.

With the edges sorted, we moved on to the needlepunch dressing. This is where the magic really happens. We worked needlepunch sand into the wet pour to improve the texture, refresh the look and bring some life back into the surface. It’s a simple but very effective way to rejuvenate older wet pour without having to rip everything out. Once the dressing settled, the whole area looked cleaner, brighter and much more inviting for children and families.

The end result?

A smarter, safer and far more presentable play space, all without the cost of installing brand-new outdoor play surface. The client was delighted with how much difference the refurbishment made, especially knowing the original wet pour is now good to go for several more years.

This Lincoln project is another great example of how Soft Top Surfacing helps local schools, parks and community areas keep their play spaces fresh, safe and ready for fun. Whether it’s wet pour, playground markings or general surfacing work, we’re always happy to help bring a space back to its best.
